Kicking it off with Amy Harmon! Day #1 of Pick-pocketing Poems♥

Ladies and LADIES! Let me introduce to you—

Pick-pocketing Poems!

What is it and what’s up you ask?

Well well well ladies, you see, home girl here is a HUGE lover of poetry. And when I say huge, I mean
H-U-G-E lover. And if many of you are aware of not, I don’t know, but April is the month of Poetry. We here in the poetry community take this shit very seriously.

So I thought, why just poets? Let me rope in some of my favorite writers and have them join me for a month long fest. And that is exactly what I have. 15 authors are here to bring you a poem every alternate day of the month.

But! But! But! Hold on! Here’s the surprise! There are a couple of rules babes!

The author that writes the first day, gives a quote to the author after her, and she has to write a poem inspired from the quote given to her, and the book from which the quote was given is gifted as a GIVEAWAY! Which means 15 new books for ya’ll!!

Hands in the air if you’re excited!

So, without further delay,  I have for you here one of my favorite poems, from one of my favorite books written by one of my favorite authors-

Amy Harmon

If God makes all our faces,
did he laugh when he made me:
Does he make the legs that cannot walk
and eyes that cannot see?
Does he curl the hair upon my head
’til it rebels in wild defiance”
Does he close the ears of the deaf man
to make him more reliant?
Is the way I look coincidence
or just a twist of fate?
If he made me this way,
is it okay to blame him for the things I hate?
For the flaws that seem to worsen
every time I see a mirror,
for the ugliness I see in me,
for the loathing and the fear.
Does he sculpt us for his pleasure
for a reason I can’t see
If God makes all our faces,
did he laugh when he made me?

About Amy—

PictureAmy Harmon is a Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and New York Times Bestselling author. Amy knew at an early age that writing was something she wanted to do, and she divided her time between writing songs and stories as she grew. Having grown up in the middle of wheat fields without a television, with only her books and her siblings to entertain her, she developed a strong sense of what made a good story. Her books are now being published in seventeen different languages, truly a dream come true for a little country girl from Levan, Utah.

Amy Harmon has written thirteen novels – the USA Today Bestsellers The Bird and The Sword, The Smallest Part, Making Faces and Running Barefoot, as well as the #1 Amazon bestselling historical From Sand and Ash, The Queen and The Cure, The Law of Moses, The Song of David, Infinity + One, Slow Dance in Purgatory, Prom Night in Purgatory, and the New York Times Bestseller, A Different Blue. Her next novel, What the Wind Knows, a historical set in Ireland 1920’s, will be released January 2018 by Lake Union Publishing.

OMG who’s already in tears thinking of Fern and Ambrose and Bailey? Because shit-fuck-goddammit! I swear I had a tear leaking out when Amy sent me this poem because Making Faces is like a bullet- every time I hear of it, my heart crunches up and runs away, or simply wails. Have you read it? Because if you haven’t jklbsdjbsuydbf WHAT-THE-FUCK-HAVE-YOU-BEEN-WAITING-FOR?! (I have linked it in the poem, so go buy this book if you haven’t already)

1218337Since this is the first day, and Amy gave me her own poem, and no one gave her any quote or anything, today, as a giveaway, I have for you a Paperback copy of one of my most favorite poetry books of all times-
